Here Are Several Things to Try!

In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, Cornerstone Pros is open and prepared to serve you safely! The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provided recommendations for our health and safety during the COVID-19 outbreak. As we all know, two of the most effective ways to slow the spread are to stay home and, if you have to go out, to practice social distancing.

At first, staying at home may have been a nice change. However, you might be getting restless and bored. So we’re offering tips to make the most out of your time indoors.

Get Organized!

There’s no better time than now to get your home in order. To avoid getting overwhelmed, don’t think about it as one big project. Break it down into smaller tasks. Make a list of disorganized areas, such as cabinets, the food pantry, closets, the garage, etc. Then, pick one area to attack each day.

Follow these steps for efficiency:

  • Cut down on clutter. Place items into three piles: throw away, give away and keep.
  • Follow through. Toss out items in your throwaway pile right away to prevent second-guessing. Set a deadline for giving away or donating items in your give away pile. When the deadline arrives, toss out anything that’s still left. This will motivate you to follow through.
  • Clean and disinfect. Vacuum, wipe down and thoroughly clean the space you’re concentrating on while it’s empty.
  • Return the “keep” items. Now, it should be easy to organize the items that go back into the closet, cabinet, garage, etc.

Get Moving!

Lounging around will enhance your cabin fever. Make sure to get 30 to 60 minutes of daily exercise or physical activity to lift your spirits and keep you fit and healthy.

Many public gyms are closed, but there are other ways to stay active! Here are just some ideas:

  • Walk, run or take your dog for a walk while practicing social distancing.
  • Find out if your exercise facility is offering classes online.
  • Create an obstacle course around your home and challenge family members.
  • Search for workout routines on the Internet.

Get Thinking!

Your brain needs exercise, too. Using your brain will keep your mind sharp and your body healthy for years to come. Give these ideas a try:

  • Read: Pick up a book, newspaper, magazine or other written material you enjoy and reading won’t feel like a chore.
  • Play games: Crossword puzzles, board games and Sudoku are great ways to challenge your brain.
  • Try something new: Cook a new recipe. Approach an everyday activity in a different way. Learn to play an instrument. Take a stab at anything that challenges you.
